Driving to Orvieto

Up

More pictures of dry fields.  The drought was very serious.

Every time Daniele describes a city on a hill, he says it was "founded by the Etruscans."

Everything we see looks Etruscan to me.

A low-water-level lake.

There should be lots more water here.

But the view is still pretty.

The road in the mountains often wound through partially-covered tunnels.

View from inside a partially-covered tunnel.

Low water.   Dry countryside.

Very dry.  I believe this is the Lago di Corbara (Corbara Lake), formed by damming the Tiber River.

Very low water.

Enjoying the dry drive.

That's Corbara Dam, I think.

Kinda like an Italian version of Guntersville Dam.
