Williamsburg The TGIR Banquet NASA Langley

Each year NASA's Office of Aerospace Technology sponsors a technical conference called "Turning Goals into Reality" (TGIR), which is attended by engineers and managers from government, industry and academia across the country.  A highlight of TGIR is the annual awards banquet, at which NASA recognizes engineers and others who have made significant contributions to aerospace research.  The 2003 conference was held in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Because the Office of Aerospace Technology has a strong interest in promoting education, it has become a tradition to include a student presentation on the TGIR agenda.  This year NASA invited Mrs. Pam Vaughan, a 9th-grade physical science and biology teacher from Fordyce High School, Fordyce, Arkansas, to bring two of her students to Williamsburg to make a presentation at the TGIR banquet, which was held at the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton, VA.  Mrs. Vaughan and her students, Karen Ballance and Cory Culp, made an outstanding and inspirational presentation to the TGIR attendees about how they have used a NASA Aerospace Technology educational program (Earth to Orbit: Engineering Design Challenge) in their physical science class.

This website contains photos of the banquet presentation, along with pictures taken on educational outings to Colonial Williamsburg and the NASA Langley Research Center.
