Caravanserai

Up Next

This morning, on our way from Cappadocia to Ankara, we stopped at an authentic cavaransarai.  What's a caravanserai?

Well, there you are.  Read all about it.  It's a way-station for camel caravans.

Look, sir!  Rugs!

Yet another opportunity to spend money.

Still shopping.

I thought we were through with this.

Those marks on the wall indicate places where the Turks are going to restore the structure of the historic old caravanserai.

Maybe they'll restore him, too.

Ah.  A nice place to sip tea while the tourists buy rugs.

Look over there!  Locals are tending cattle in that barn!

And look there!  A guy on a donkey!  This means ... what, exactly?  Not everybody has a car, I guess.
