We're getting near the end of the trip now, folks. And it's lunchtime and I'm hungry and we're stuck in traffic and what's in the back of that truck is starting to look pretty tasty. But we learned right along here that Mete is apparently unhappy with the roadside restaurant where he usually takes his groups for lunch. It seems they overcharge and they don't have good food. So he wants to teach them a lesson, and he plans to drive right by the place today.
But what will we do for lunch? Well, first we have to take a ferry ride across the Sea of Marmara. This little trip will trim a lot of miles from our ride back to Istanbul. And we could eat on the ferry, but Mete nixes that idea too. The food's no good and it costs too much.
So what to do?
Mete to the rescue. He's purchased at his own expense a box of simit -- a crisp, ring-shaped savory bread covered with sesame seeds. And he gave us slices of cheese, too. Yum. Now all we need is something to drink.
Cola Turka hits the spot,
Don and Wendy and Bob and Lavona enjoy their special picnic lunch on the ferry.
Those women down there sure are dressed head to toe in black.
Look! Somebody's eyes are peeking out.
Ships, ships, and another ferry.
Dick and Paula chat with Dave and Yvonne.
There's not much to do on this ferry ride when the Cola Turka is all gone. So I'll just take another picture of another ferry.
And more ships, ships, ships.
Port at last. We could see many many jellyfish drifting by the ferry as we cruised along. Wouldn't want to swim in these waters.
That's Istanbul up ahead.
I'd dozed off, but now I'm awake. In just a little while, we'll be down there on an excursion boat looking up at this bridge.
Fresh fish, artfully displayed.
Mmmmm. Nuts.
Have I mentioned that Turkey enjoys an abundance of excellent food?
