Montmartre The Orsay Seine Stroll

Thanks to June, my days were crowded with activity, leaving little time to wander the city on my own.  But I did manage to see a few extra things here and there.  This section is devoted to sights around Paris that weren't on one of the scheduled tours.

This was the last picture I took in Paris, when I was on my way home.  It's an early morning view of Gare du Nord, the station where I caught the Eurostar train under the English Channel and back to London.  That was quite a trip -- as one of my fellow tourists pointed out when I outlined my plans, I'd allowed no spare time for a flat tire.  This was my schedule for the final day:

1) Catch the first Paris Metro subway train of the morning headed north from St. Placide (5:30 am)
2) Catch the Eurostar from Gare du Nord to London Waterloo station. (6:30 am)
3) Catch the Bakerloo subway line from Waterloo to Paddington Station. (8:30 am)
4) Catch the Heathrow Express from Paddington to Heathrow Airport. (9:00 am)
5) Catch a United Airlines flight from Heathrow to Washington Dulles (12:30 pm).

It all worked out fine -- just as planned.
